Participatory theme elicitation: open card sorting for user led qualitative data analysis

چکیده
Participatory Theme Elicitation (PTE) is a new approach to increasing user-involvement in qualitative data analysis. In this five-step method, participants independently identify themes the using open card sorting, and are supported their development of set that reflect all participant views. We describe evaluate PTE with case study, where nine lay researchers identified five core from an online intervention depressed adults. Total participation time was approximately 6 hours. Evaluation revealed high levels satisfaction process generated. The strong commitment public engagement social science research limited guidance on methods for effective participatory analysis highlight value growing need robust standardised approaches such as PTE.

Network methods to support user involvement in qualitative data analyses: an introduction to Participatory Theme Elicitation
BACKGROUND While Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is encouraged throughout the research process, engagement is typically limited to intervention design and post-analysis stages. There are few approaches to participatory data analyses within complex health interventions. METHODS Using qualitative data from a feasibility randomised controlled trial (RCT), this proof-of-concept study tests t...
متن کاملKnowledge Elicitation Plug-In for Protégé: Card Sorting and Laddering
Ontologies have been widely accepted as the primary method of representing knowledge in the Semantic Web. Knowledge Elicitation (KE) is usually one of the first steps in building ontologies. A number of ontology editors such as Protégé have been developed to assist users in building ontologies efficiently. However, traditional KE techniques, such as card sorting and laddering, are not yet suppo...
متن کاملPreference Elicitation For Participatory Budgeting
Participatory budgeting enables the allocation of public funds by collecting and aggregating individual preferences; it has already had a sizable real-world impact. But making the most of this new paradigm requires a rethinking of some of the basics of computational social choice, including the very way in which individuals express their preferences. We analytically compare four preference elic...
متن کاملA Comparison of Card-sorting Analysis Methods
This study investigates how the choice of analysis method for card sorting studies affects the suggested information structure for websites. In the card sorting technique, a variety of methods are used to analyse the resulting data. The analysis of card sorting data helps user experience (UX) designers to discover the patterns in how users make classifications and thus to develop an optimal, us...
متن کاملToscanaJ – An Open Source Tool for Qualitative Data Analysis
In this paper, we report about the current state of ToscanaJ, the latest member of the family of TOSCANA programs, that have been used for conceptual data analysis and knowledge discovery. After presenting the tool itself, we shortly describe the planned Tockit framework surrounding ToscanaJ, that will provide an Open Source toolset for programs based on Formal Concept Analysis and the planning...
